The party is over. From 2008 to 2023, learning to code was like striking oil – guaranteed money, endless job opportunities, and the golden ticket to a comfortable life. Millions flocked to computer science, chasing the Silicon Valley dream. However, starting in 2024, the rise of AI tools like GitHub Copilot, Cursor, and Devin is changing the game. Mass layoffs followed. Entry-level positions vanished. The coding gold rush officially ended. So here is the question: Is your CS degree now worthless? This talk examines the end of the programming boom era, AI's impact on the software industry, and how CS Professionals can reposition themselves at this turning point.
