The Evolution of Field Strength in MRI
摘要 Abstract
MRI is celebrating ist 50th Anniversary this year. First pio-neering work had been done at very low field strength of ~0.05 T, from then on field strength always went up, with 1.5 and 3 T as the mainstay of clinical MRI. Ultrahigh field at 7 T has become available for clinical applications and research scanners with up to 11.7 T are already in place. Remarkably, over the last few years very intense development have stak-en place to have a new look at low field MR (~0.5 T) and even ultralow-field MRI (~0.05). The presentation will briefly look at the history of the development of field strength and provide some rationale why it may make sense to go back to lower fields. It will also try to provide an outlook on where MRI might go in the following years.
